Shoulder Pain & Massage Chair

shoulder pain and massage chair

Shoulder pain is pain that is caused by something affecting the shoulder joint, muscles, ligaments, or tendons. Virtually everyone can experience shoulder pain at any age, but it can be common in athletes or elderly folks. Shoulder pain could restrict movement like raising your arms or movement such as reaching for things. When shoulder pain becomes a disruption to your daily activities, it can be difficult to maintain the quality of life.

Causes of Shoulder Pain

There are some common issues that can cause shoulder pain:

  • Repetitive motion
  • Stress and muscle tension
  • Poor posture and back alignment
  • Injury or trauma
  • Pinched nerve

Shoulder Pains

Shoulder pains can be in different areas on the shoulder. There are airbags that can inflate to the front of the shoulders and pull them back, which is primarily used for posture correction. Most massage chairs have rollers that will hit the back and a portion of the back muscles around the scapula. We probably have a lot of these pains, but don't have the time to visit a massage spa on a daily basis to get rid of the stress and tension. That's where a quality massage chair can work effectively to remove possible stresses that could potentially develop shoulder and neck pain. A massage chair is a great alternative to preventing many of these possible pains due to its convenience and flexibility.

Massage Chair Helps

First of all, massage therapy is beneficial as it increases blood circulation to the injured region. Increased blood flow allows the body to accelerate it’s healing by providing nutrients and oxygen to injured muscles. Massage therapy can also improve the range of motion.

Massage Chair Features that Relieve Shoulder Pain

  • SL-Track Roller - The SL-track roller can provide relief to back pain due to rollers digging into the back muscles and muscles along the shoulder blade. The massage chair is designed with an ergonomic roller track to adjust for the contour of the body.
  • 3D/4D Massage - The 3D design is meant to allow the rollers to push forward while on the track, creating a deeper tissue massage due to the rollers being pushed forward into your muscles. 4D massage rollers are meant to mimic hand movements in order to try and get the massage chair to be as close to a real massage practitioner as possible. This allows for more customization of your massages, letting the 4D design work on your worn-out muscles.
  • Zero Gravity - The zero gravity position on most massage chairs are meant to relieve weight off of the spine and legs, where the weight is distributed across the entire body. This is due to the legs being level or raised above the heart. This in turn puts pressure off of the back and spine, which can lead to shoulder pains due to high amounts of stress, and promotes blood circulation, which also helps for recovery of injured muscles.
  • Heating Therapy - Most massage chairs contain a heating function, which can help loosen tight muscles. Allowing the shoulder to loosen tight muscles makes them more prone to having effective massages. In addition to this, heating promotes blood circulation, meaning more nutrients and materials are getting to the shoulder in order to help it recover.
